Observations of the One

Evolution in Consciousness
Copyright © Grant Lawrence (2004)

Friends, we are not alone. Although some wait to see if there is life in this or that galaxy, we do know that there is life here and now on this planet. We may feel isolated and alienated from this life, but there is another way. We need to go beyond the programming of a system that glories in "winners" and "losers"; "haves" and "have nots"; and the "powerful" and the "powerless". To do this will require a change in consciousness that can only come from the realization that we are not alone but connected and interconnected. For some this may seem rather obvious, but I believe that it is in the awareness of this obvious connection that real productive and wholesome change can materialize.

The question remains will humanity awaken to life or continue in its unfortunate slumber? As long as we allow ourselves to be conditioned by fear of the "other" then we will likely continue disconnected and unable to reach our evolutionary potential. But, this evolution in consciousness is an imperative to human survival. We need this change in consciousness in the same way species have had to change physical attributes in order to survive the challenges faced by their environment. Our greatest enemy is our own limited understanding; fortunately, that can be changed at any time.
