What happened to the membership application that was featured on the old Lo1S website? Are the people who joined Lo1S through the old website's membership application still valid members?
From Brian Sanchez, 09/12/04: "The Lo1S membership application idea was actually more successful than I had initially expected it to be for a fairly young website and organization. However, I felt that the concept of requiring one to apply to join Lo1S made us seem like we were an exclusive organization, even if we didn't require payment of membership dues. I wanted Lo1S to be open to anyone who resonated with our message, and I didn't want an application to determine whether someone was 'worthy' of claiming to be a Law of One Society member. I believe 'membership' to something that calls itself a Law of One Society can only be decided, legitimized and maintained by the individual. Furthermore, I noticed that many of those who applied and became 'official' Lo1S members never participated in our Online Discussion Group, and most of those who kept in touch with me were those who participated in the forum. Therefore, in keeping with our commitment to inclusivity I decided to abandon the membership application idea, and instead chose to allow the individual to decide on his or her own whether he or she wants to be a part of Lo1S.
"Those who have previously applied and have become 'official' Lo1S members are still part of Lo1S, but the meaningfulness of their affiliation and their commitment to Lo1S is left totally up to them. If a person wants to feel like they are a part of Lo1S, then it's up to them to take the initiative to become an integral asset to Lo1S and our vision. Individuals who want to play a more active role in making our dream of a Law of One Society a reality can always keep an open line of communication with me via e-mail or publicly through our Discussion Group. I put my heart and my soul into this vision of a Law of One Society, and all I ask is that you meet me half way."
