Observations of the One

Shifting Our Focus
Copyright © Grant Lawrence (2004)

It is hard to be of service when we are walking blindly. To close our eyes to the hardships and suffering of others is wrong headed, although attractive at times. We will not have an open heart with a closed mind or a clenched fist. So, if we are made uneasy about the affairs of our brothers and sisters that is fine, but to close ourselves off to them is to close ourselves off from life and to constrict our awareness. This is not part of an expanded consciousness. Rather, to allow this awareness to activate us to service is a better way for all concerned.

Our bodies are transient and the source of much suffering but it is our main focus. We water it and feed it and try to stop pain. Consider having a similar care for others. You will find it will have many benefits.
